Douglas Ellington's contributions to American history are wide-ranging. Internationally known for his Art Deco style portrayed in his award-winning commercial and residential architecture, he was also one of the chief developers of the U.S. Navy's World War II "razzle dazzle" camoflage patterns that helped protect allied warships. As the first southerner to win the Paris Beaux-Arts award, his memory lives on in academia as well as the professional world. The house has been called the most interesting home in America.
