Circular Congregational Church, founded in 1681, is nestled in the heart of historic downtown Charleston and is one of the city’s most scenic and beloved landmarks. With its deep-rooted history and architectural beauty, the church has been a cherished setting for wedding ceremonies for over three centuries. An open and affirming congregation, Circular Church warmly welcomes both traditional and same-sex weddings, as well as vow renewals. The church campus offers a variety of beautiful and functional spaces ideal for weddings, meetings, lectures, workshops, and celebrations of all kinds. Both the Sanctuary and Lance Hall are listed on the National Historic Register and draw visitors from around the world. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus to support modern event needs. The Sanctuary Building, known for its unique circular design, creates an inviting and intimate atmosphere. It seats up to 350 guests and features recently restored stained glass windows and rich wooden details. Celebrated for its excellent acoustics, the sanctuary is often described as "the perfect listening room." Couples can customize their ceremonies to reflect their personal spiritual values, using their own officiant or choosing from the church’s experienced officiants. An open pulpit area allows for creative floral arrangements, candles, or larger wedding parties. For added convenience, dressing areas are available for wedding parties, performers, or presenters. The Sanctuary may also be paired with Keller Hall, a smaller reception space with a half kitchen located just behind it. For receptions, dinners, or gatherings, Upper Lance Hall offers a bright, spacious venue with a full kitchen and prep area. Its large windows provide lovely views of the historic sanctuary and graveyard. This hall seats 125 guests or accommodates up to 175 standing and can be extended to include the adjoining porch and courtyard. Tables, chairs, and kitchen use are included in the rental. Another available venue is the Wingard Room in the Meeting House, a LEED-certified green building with hardwood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows that bring in natural light and Charleston breezes. Accessible by stairs or elevator, this upstairs room seats up to 40 and opens to a wide porch overlooking a picturesque courtyard. The church grounds, including the historic Lance Hall, courtyards, and graveyard, provide stunning backdrops for receptions, rehearsal dinners, and wedding photography. The members of Circular Church are proud to open their doors to all who seek to experience the beauty, history, and reverence of this sacred space.
